Redefining Success: Lexi Johnson on Using Faith and Resilience to Lead the Way

2 Corinthians 12:9

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Give every place/area of your life where you feel weak to the Lord. This is where He does His most miraculous work!

Hey Sista! I'm honored and grateful that you are here! Thank you for taking the time to speak with us today! Could you please take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers and tell us a little about what you do?

My name is Lexi Johnson. I am a daughter of the most high Yah and a citizen of His Kingdom. After this, I am a wife and mother. I am an international speaker, licensed financial coach and strategist, and pastor facilitating short-term international mission trips. I am also the chief stewardship officer of Money Mastery 4 Her Enterprises, a business God has given me to help women entrepreneurs of faith take bold, faith-driven control of their finances through radical Godly stewardship, resulting in financial success and Kingdom impact.

Resilience is a powerful theme that speaks to women's fierce spirit. What obstacle in 2024 pushed you to dig deeper personally and/or professionally, and what did you learn about your strength in the process?

After several years ( 2020—first quarter of 2024) of caring for family members (factor in two moves across states and no time to make friends or get involved in the community), I decided that it was time for me to return full-time to my business. The obstacle I needed to push past was "me" and my own stinking thinking.

After running my business very part-time for several years, I did not believe I was capable of rebuilding momentum, attracting new clients, and serving them with excellence. The enemy was working overtime, planting negative thoughts, and I was working overtime, believing them. If I was going to get past this, I was definitely going to have to dig deep.

I was scheduled to lead a mission trip this year. With wise counsel, I made a very tough decision to postpone the mission trip scheduled for this year. I committed to fasting monthly, devouring the Word, and letting the almighty Yah handle what I could not control. There were two unexpected opportunities and one expected opportunity that helped me to see who I was in Him. I was selected to receive an honorary doctorate through Mainseed Christian University. I spoke at the P3 Emerge Retreat, and I was one of 300 women of color selected out of over 1000 applicants for the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program.

Over ten years ago, I started my journey to get a PhD. I did not complete that program due to an at-risk pregnancy and illness. I considered returning several times but decided that the opportunity was far gone. When I was nominated and selected to receive the honorary doctorate and global fellowship in Christian Leadership, I felt it was my Father validating that the work I had done throughout my adult life was significant and impactful. October 19, 2024, will always be a rebirth of sorts for me.

In November of 2024, I spoke at the P3 Emerge Retreat. This was not my first time speaking at this retreat; each time was an impactful experience. The 2024 edition would not disappoint. The retreat theme was Prepare. Position. Pursue and was very personal for me this year. It further confirmed what I had been through this year was preparation and positioning for what I'm pursuing in 2025 and beyond. It was here that my Father confirmed that I am not confused; I hear Him clearly, and I'm on the right track.

In July 2024, I was accepted into the Goldman Sachs OMBW Black in Business Program. This program could not have come at a better time. It showed me that I doubled my income from 2022 to 2023 without even really trying. It showed me that what my Father put on my heart to do was not out of reach at all. I learned that I am resilient and capable. I learned that my message and my work is significant. I learned that all I had been through was preparation for where I am now and what's to come.

Thank you! Girl, this year has flown by, and we are just a few weeks away from a brand-new year! What is your biggest lesson learned, and how did it shape your decision to move boldly into your next chapter?

The biggest lesson I learned was never to let people or circumstances discourage me from the assignment the Father gave me. I learned that I'm not behind. I'm right on time.

Okay, before we go, I have one last question. Well. It has two parts... Looking ahead to 2025, how will you use what you’ve learned to create a better tomorrow for yourself?

The biggest lesson I learned was never to let people or circumstances discourage me from the assignment the Father gave me. I learned that I'm not behind. I'm right on time.

Honestly, I am not looking to create a better tomorrow for myself. I want to create a better tomorrow for my children and the women I serve. In doing so, my Father has promised that He will look out for me.

What advice would you give to women looking to strengthen their resilience for the new year? What advice do I give women looking to strengthen their resilience in the new year? 2 Corinthians 12:9
